Terms of service

These terms apply to everyone who uses Moekura (moekura.net), with or without an account, including through its API. By using the site you agree to them and to the site rules (https://moekura.net/rules). If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Who runs Moekura

Moekura is run by Moe Studios. Where these terms say "we" or "us", they mean Moe Studios and the site's staff. You can reach us at [email protected].

Age

Moekura hosts adult content, including sexually explicit artwork. You must be at least 18 years old, and old enough to view adult content where you live, to use the site.

Explicit posts are visible without an account. Your blacklist (in your settings) hides posts you don't want to see, but it's a filter, not a guarantee.

Your account

  • Give a working email address. We use it to verify your account, to let you log in and reset your password, and to contact you about your account.
  • Keep your password, login codes and API keys to yourself. You're responsible for everything done with your account.
  • One person, one account, unless the staff allow otherwise. Don't create accounts to get around a ban, a limit or a moderation decision.
  • Don't share, sell or transfer your account.

What you post

You keep the rights to what you upload and write. By posting it, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, resize, convert, display and distribute it as part of running Moekura, including through thumbnails, feeds, embeds and the API. The licence ends when the content is removed from the site, except for copies in backups, which are deleted on their normal schedule, as described in the privacy policy at https://moekura.net/privacy.

Most art on Moekura was made by someone else. When you upload a work, credit the artist and give its source whenever you can.

You must not post:

  • sexual or intimate images of real people, or any content made or shared without the consent of the people shown;
  • content that is illegal in the United States or where you are, including content that infringes someone else's copyright;
  • malware, or files disguised as something they aren't;
  • anything the site rules (https://moekura.net/rules) forbid. At the moment that includes AI-generated content and real-life photos or videos.

Tag and rate your uploads accurately. Explicit content must be rated explicit.

New uploads may be held for approval before they appear. Staff may edit, retag, hide, delete or permanently purge any post, comment or other content, and may keep records of what was removed and why.

Behaviour

  • Treat others with respect. No harassment, threats, hate, doxxing, spam or impersonation.
  • Don't try to break, overload or get around the site's security, limits or bans.
  • Automated access is welcome through the API and the Danbooru-compatible endpoints. Stay within the rate limits, identify your client with a meaningful User-Agent, and don't scrape in a way that harms the site.

Moderation

We may warn, restrict, suspend or close accounts, and ban IP addresses or networks, when someone breaks these terms or the rules, or to protect the site and its users. We try to be fair and consistent, but we aren't obliged to host anything or anyone. If you think a decision was a mistake, write to [email protected].

Copyright and takedowns

We respect the rights of artists and other creators. If you own the copyright to something posted on Moekura and want it removed, send a notice to [email protected] that includes:

  • the links to the posts concerned;
  • the work you own, or a link to where you published it;
  • your name and a way to contact you;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised by you, your agent or the law;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner;
  • your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough).

We'll remove or disable the content and tell the uploader. If your post was removed and you believe that was a mistake or that you had the right to post it, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. Artists who don't want their work on Moekura at all can ask us to block further uploads of it.

We close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Third-party content and links

Posts link to sources, artists and other sites that we don't control. We aren't responsible for their content or for what happens when you visit them. Content posted by users is their responsibility, not ours, and we don't review everything before it appears.

Ending your use

You can stop using Moekura at any time. To have your account deleted, write to [email protected] from the email address on the account. We may close or suspend accounts under these terms, and we may change, pause or shut down the site at any time.

No warranty

Moekura is a free, non-commercial site, provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. It may be unavailable, lose data or change at any time. Keep your own copies of anything you care about.

Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your use of the site, from content posted by other people, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated. If a change is significant, we'll announce it on the site. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
